Welcome to the home of ACE Psychology (ACEP), a ground-breaking new school of thought that challenges the conventional wisdom of present-day popular psychology. It is my hope that the arguments made in the website’s articles will seem too harsh or too uninformed, but if that’s the case: so be it. One mind changed, from one article, is probably good enough for me to feel satisfied and justify the time invested in what I feel is a necessary pursuit. My approach might not work, but maybe it will. So, then, what’s this all about? Good question.

Here is my primary argument: psychology as a field has failed. It has not even come close to completing its pledge as an academic field to understand the human mind well enough to have a major impact on the well-being of all people. The resolution to this problem, in my belief, is a vastly different and highly coherent foundation of knowledge. Again, my belief is that to do this requires an approach that is elemental and discrete, structural, and guided by professionals and in some cases amateurs at introspection techniques and mindful of intuitions. Just look at what the fields of physics, chemistry, and biology have contributed to the progress of Humanity in terms of knowledge and its practical application to improve lives. So whilst mainstream psychology, namely cognitive psychology has no doubt made some valuable contributions to people’s lives, my firm belief is that this has not been a successful academic field throughout the past century. Classical conditioning? Hardly complex when considering the apparent complex of neural networks and circuitry. Perhaps the Psyche is just too complex? Even more complex than splitting atoms? Is that why it is that we cannot shape our loved ones, friends, or strangers into the kind and honest people we wish for? I for one believe we absolutely can achieve the above in the light of a completely new foundation of knowledge for botjh psychology theorists and practitioners to draw upon.

Wittgenstein believes language was a self-reporting instrument showing a running commentary of experience, rather than being experience itself.

In general, a Concept is “influenced” into creation by Mental Process. Firstly. there is a Motivation to do or say something, i.e. to repond to sensory signals one has felt. Not “cognised”, but felt. The ttrigger event to start the process that leads to either an experience of Conceptive Thoughts or Conceptive Feelings in various different settings. These Thoughts and Feelings are normally accompanied by unhelpful habits, attachments, desires, and cravings. The success of this can be measured by how much Attention that is Motivated for the relevant combination of Thoughts and Feelings.

Next in the processs is the formation of an Intention its purpoes, which is normally a reflection of any similar past experiences combined with inference for the gaps. These processes are usually regarded as Unconscious. This stream of the psyche applies purposeful measures to Regulate any form of action that is forming as an Intention, but is rationally undesirable.

A Percept is a Perception of a single Object through Unconsious Association Laws. The Percept is then named through the use of Language and Association Laws again. It is controversial as to whether the negation of an Object or Concepts meaning writes them off or not. I am yet to decide.

Next. the Percept of the Object is named with language with likely the correct team being drawn from Memory.

The Affine approach diverges from the mainstream by recognising primarily via introspection and clear logic the fundamental elements that comprise existence and what they are made from, plus the interconnections or inter-relatedness of these elements. This make Affine Psychology very much a successor to the original formation of psychology: Structural Psychology, as developed by Wundt and Titchener over a century ago. We reject the notion of the Psyche as a separate entity from the body, and instead, we embrace a holistic perspective that acknowledges the intricate relationships between intelligence, feeling, physiology, and environment.

Affine Psychology offers a unified framework that integrates insights from various disciplines, including neuroscience, anthropology, sociology, linguistics, formal logic, and philosophy — namely phenomenology, American pragmatism, and Buddhism. By synthesising these diverse perspectives, we aim to provide a more comprehensive understanding of human behavior and mental processes. The end goal being to reduce people’s suffering through mental and behavioral training that leads to greater life satisfaction, fulfillment, and contentment.

But Affine Psychology is not merely a theoretical endeavor. We are committed to inspiring practical applications that can transform lives. Our research extends beyond the confines of the laboratory, seeking to address real-world issues and improve therapeutic interventions.

Through our blog, 5MP explores a wide range of topics, from the nature of consciousness and phenomenology, to the dynamics of inter-subjectivity. Each post hopes to offer thought-provoking insights and practical strategies informed by the principles of Affine Psychology.

Karl Popper:

“Whenever a theory appears to you as the only possible one, take this as a sign that you have neither understood the theory nor the problem which it was intended to solve.”

Join us on this journey of exploration and discovery as we challenge the status quo and forge new paths in the field of psychology. Together, we can unlock the mysteries of the Psyche and create a more harmonious relationship between individuals and their world. Welcome to Affine Psychology – where introspection and intuition combined with logic leads to insight.
